SERVICES AVAILABLE

What We Provide

Small vineyards often turn into large ones at Farm Working Hands Pty Ltd, all thanks to our satisfied clients. Our wide range of services and commitment to client success have earned us an impeccable reputation in the industry. With high quality services, we’re doing everything we can to keep our clients happy through our work.

REPLANTING GRAPEVINE

Satisfaction Guaranteed

Our clients are our number one priority, and we make the effort to ensure that they are completely satisfied with our work.

In order to get the best results, we do the following on how to plant and grow a grapevine.

  • To guarantee that the final planting height is slightly deeper than the level in the pot or on the stem, prepare the hole and backfill.

  • Backfilling a mound into the center of the hole while planting bare-root grapes will allow the roots to spread out and downward.

  • Verifying that customers have supplied a frame, wire, or trellis; if not, the plant will spread out across the ground until it finds something to cling to.

Pruning a vine by cutting it down to one or more canes that will eventually sprout new shoots is known as cane pruning. The vine is left with a trunk and its surviving canes (typically one for the growth of the current year and one renewal spur) after cane-pruning.

SPUR PRUNNING

On vines that have one or two pairs of long canes (a permanent cordon) trained along a trellis system, spur pruning is applied. New canes that have grown along the permanent cordon are trimmed back each winter to a spur, which is a tiny stem with two buds. The buds on the spur open to produce new growth in the spring.

LIFTING WIRE

The vines can develop rather quickly in the spring, so we can manage the amount of new growth and ensure that the shoots don't become overly full of fruit as the growing season progresses by elevating the wires on the vineyard posts.

DESUCKERING

Desuckering is the process of eliminating any "suckers"—or non-fruitful shoots. The idea is to get the vine to concentrate its efforts on the main shoots, which are going to produce the valuable clusters in the future. All of the work is done by hand.

TYING THE VINE

Support is frequently required to maintain canes and shoots off the ground, especially in more mature and well-established vines. Furthermore, by strategically tying the vine, more of it can be exposed to the sun and air, increasing the overall output of fruit.
